Sedan Synagogue

The synagogue in the town of Sedan in the Ardennes department in the French region of Lorraine was built in 1878. The address of the synagogue is 6 avenue de Verdun. The synagogue is since 1984 a protected monument ( Monument historique ).

History

After the Franco-German War of 1870 /71 and the annexation of Alsace and parts of Lorraine by the German Empire moved from these areas Jewish residents to Sedan to be able to live in France. For the growing number of community members, the synagogue was built in Sedan. The building is located on a two-kilometer long avenue, which was created from 1876 to 1878.
