Sedo Holding AG is a listed public limited company based in Cologne, which operates the same trading platform for domains. It is a subsidiary of United Internet AG and 1 & 1 next to one of the two subgroups.

History

Sedo goes in January 2000 in the first version online, nearly a year later, the partner Tim Schumacher, Ulrich Priesner and Marius Würzner establish Sedo GmbH for the further operation of the trading platform. In the same year, the rapidly expanding United Internet Group involved in Sedo.

In 2004, Sedo establishes a branch in the United States, as the Boston site is chosen. Also an office in London is opened. After Sedo been built by 2007 through organic growth, the company acquires the GreatDomains.

Platform

Core of Sedo Holding is the same trading platform, can buy and sell all kinds of domains on the individuals and businesses. With over 3,500 domains traded in the month and over 16 million entries in the database Sedo is the undisputed leader in this segment. Sedo is available in over 20 languages.

The buying and selling domains is not only possible via Sedo, but also through partners. Under the name SedoMLS, the company operates an interface that can integrate the core functionality into their own websites on the third provider. The following companies currently support SedoMLS:

In addition to domain trading Sedo also offers parking of a domain ( called domain parking ). In the course of an address owner can generate revenue from advertising, which switches Sedo to a redirection of the URL.

Today Sedo Holding AG emerged from the former AdLINK Group, which was partially sold to Hi-Media. It acts as a parent company for the Sedo GmbH and Sedo.com, LLC and affilinet.
