Seeache

BW

The Seeache is the natural outflow of Lake Mondsee where the lake level regulation weir is located at Lake Mondsee, and ends after 3 kilometers in Unterach in the Attersee. It is responsible for 58 % of the total surface inflow of Lake Attersee.

The river is relatively straight line from west to east and forms along the entire route, the border between the municipalities Unterach in the north and St. Gilgen in the south, and thus also the border between Upper Austria and Salzburg. In the mouth region of the Seeache divides into two branches, the smaller, branching left arm was artificially created.

The rapid river has water quality class I to II and is often as rafting river ( Difficulty: Level I - II) used by athletes.

In the Seeache the Perlfisch ( Rutilus meidingerii ) has settled. In addition, Seelaube, hazel, Rußnase, chub and roach find. The Seeache is visited by numerous fish species from the Attersee to spawn, as it provides favorable conditions for the development of eggs and young fish.

Along the Seeache drove the Electric Train Unterach Lake at Mondsee ( "Under Acher tram " ), built by Stern & Hafferl 1907 to combine the shipping of the two lakes and the current on the opposite shore of the Mondsee Salzkammergut Local Railway, 1949, the operation was set and the tracks removed in 1951. The route is now part road, part Rad-/Wanderweg.
