Seed dispersal#Wind

Anemochorie is the spread of plant seeds, specifically the diasporas, with the wind. It is the most primitive form of propagation, which was used by the first land plants of the earth. Plants that use the Anemochorie, usually form from tiny spores.

Here, depending on the weight and shape of the seeds, wind speed and height above the ground near or wide spreads possible, generally light seeds are spread further.

There are various ways to use the wind for the plants:

  • Wind flyers ( Meteorochorie ) let their seeds drift with the wind. This distance propagation over several hundred meters are possible up to kilometers. Examples are pastures or dandelion ( dandelion ).
  • Wind spreader ( Boleochorie, a form of Semachorie ) scattered by the action of external forces such as the wind, the seeds from capsules. The achievable propagation is only a few meters. Example is Poppy.
  • Floor runner ( Chamaechorie ) dissolve as a whole plant from the soil and are spread by the wind, the seeds fall off gradually. The case achievable propagation is only dependent on how often the steppe scooters are recorded, along fences or other plants. Examples are potash - salt herb and field - man litter.
