Seferihisar (formerly Sivrihisar ) is a town and a district in the Turkish province of Izmir and at the same time a municipality of Büyükşehir Belediyesi ( city municipality ) Izmir. The city is located about 40 kilometers southwest of the center of the provincial capital.

In the center of the county, about six miles east of the county town, the dam is Kavakdere Baraji (also Seferihisar Baraji ), in which the Karakoç Çayı is dammed.

The former name of the city was Sivrihisar, but this led to confusion with the place Sivrihisar in Eskişehir. Therefore, the Ottoman postal officials wrote in the 1890s Sivrihisar with a sign above the V, so that by mistake from the V to the time an F would.
