The Seijo University (Japanese成 城 大学, Seijo daigaku, Eng. Seijo University) is a private university in Japan. It is located in Setagaya, Tokyo.

History

The school group Seijo Gakuen (成 城 学园), which is part of the university, was in 1917 by Masataro Yanagisawa (泽 柳 政 太郎, 1865-1927 ) founded as Seijo Elementary School. The name Seijo came from a phrase in the Chinese Book of Songs: "哲夫 成 城" (English as: " The wise men are the city / state "). In 1922 the Second Seijo Middle School was founded, and in 1925 they moved to the present Seijo campus.

In 1926, the Second Seijo Middle School is the seven-year Seijo High School (成 城 高等学校, Seijo Gakko Kōtō age. 12-19 ). The high school as the Seikei and Musashi - secondary schools served the sons of the wealthier citizens in Tokyo as a preparatory course for the Imperial Universities.

After the Pacific War, it became the Seijo Gakuen Middle School (1947, three -year school ), Seijo Gakuen High School (1948, three year) and Seijo University (1950, four year).
