The Seimare Dam ( also: Seymareh ) is an arch dam on Seimare in Darrehshahr, Ilam Province, Iran. The main purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production. Studies for the dam were conducted in the 1970s and construction began in 1997 with redirection works. 2006 began the concreting and from 19 May 2011, the river was dammed. The first generator is to be ready in 2013. There are installed three 160 MW Francis turbines and generators with an installed capacity of 480 MW. You can generate about 850 GWh of electricity per year on average.

Building

The dam structure is a 180 m high arch dam with a variable radius with an arc length of 202 m. The wall is above 6 m wide at the base and 28 m with a concrete volume of 550,000 m³. The dam has a 27.886 km ² large catchment area and the reservoir storage volume of 3200 million cubic meters. Its water surface is 69.5 km ² and the lake 40 km long. The dam has two spillways. The larger main relief gets two radial seals and can dissipate up to 5763 m³ / s. The auxiliary discharge is uncontrolled and has a capacity of 2467 m³ / s
