Seishiro EtÅ
Seishiro Eto (Japanese卫 藤 征 士 郎, Eto Seishiro born April 29, 1941 in Kusu, County Kusu, Oita Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP), Vice President of Shūgiin, the Lower House, and former defense minister of his country. Within the party he belongs to Machimura faction.
Life
Eto came from a farming family in Kuju. In 1966 he completed his studies at Waseda University. At 29, he was elected in 1971 as mayor of Kusu and at that time was the nation's youngest mayor. After a four- year term, he returned for a graduate studies at Waseda, after which he became secretary of Shūgiin deputies.
From 1977 to 1983, Eto was for a legislative period the Sangiin, the House of Lords on. In 1983 Shūgiin - election, he was first elected in one constituency Oita ( four seats) with the fourth highest share of the vote in the Shūgiin and nine times since confirmed - as of 1996 in a single constituency Oita 2
In 1986, he was Parliamentary Secretary ( seimujikan ) in the Ministry of Agriculture, 1990 Chairman of the Finance Committee. In the cabinet Murayama was Eto as head of the Defense Agency from 1995 to 1996 Minister. After that, he was, among other State for Foreign Affairs from 2008 and was Chairman of the Budget Committee in Shūgiin. In September 2009, he was elected by the LDP's defeat at the 2009 Shūgiin election as Vice-President of the Shūgiin. He remained until the dissolution of the Chamber in November 2012 at the office.
In the LDP, he first joined the Ohira faction and was one of the founders of the Kono Group 1998. After a dispute over Japan visit Lee Teng -hui with the Faktionsvorsitzenden and then Foreign Minister Yohei Kono in 2001 he left the faction and joined the Mori faction, today Machimura faction on. When choosing the LDP chairman in 2008, he supported the candidate faktionseigene Yuriko Koike against Taro Aso.
ETO is one of the Chairmen of the founded in 2009, " Association for Parliamentarians unicameral ", the reform plans for its abolition - aims to develop Sangiin - currently controlled by the opposition. Its members include the former prime minister from his faction Mori and Koizumi.
