Sejerø

Sejerø is a Danish island in the Kattegat Sea off Sealand, north of Kalundborg. On the 12.37 km ² island constantly live 348 inhabitants (1 January 2013). The ferry port is Sejerby in the middle of the island. By ferry from the island of Zealand Havnsø is achievable; the crossing takes one hour.

The island forms a separate parish municipality (Danish: Sogn ) Sejerø Sogn, which belonged to Harde Skippinge Herred in the former Holbæk office until 1970, then to Bjergsted municipality in the former Vestsjællands office, in the course of municipal reform on 1 January 2007 in Kalundborg municipality in region Zealand rose.

Sejerø belongs to the Association of Danish small islands.

There is little fresh water and no old growth forest on the island. Flint finds, standing stones, a Langdysse ( passage grave ) and eight preserved grave mound indicate that the island was settled very early. The Borrebjerg was then provided oblate (20 m) and equipped with ramps. The discoveries made ​​here are made of animal bones, spear points and pottery shards. The nearby Bybjerg (26 m) was a similar facility.
