Selangor

Selangor ( Jawi: سلاڠور ) is a Malaysian state. The capital is Shah Alam and seat of the Sultan is sound. Port Klang is the largest Malaysian seaport.

Geography

Situated on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula State surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and has an area of ​​8159 km ². To the west it borders the Straits of Malacca and east to the mainland from north to south Perak, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan.

History

As well as the surrounding states of Selangor was a vassal of the prevailing empires, such as Srivijaya and Majapahit later. After the conquest of the Sultanate of Malacca in 1511 it was ruled by the rulers of Riau and Johors. The Federated Malay States formed in 1896 Selangor and three other Malay states.
