Selçuk Eker

Selcuk Eker (born 18 December 1991 in Gebze ) is a Turkish amateur boxer.

Career

Eker is 1.63 m tall and trained during the Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kağıtspor. In 2010 he won the first time the Turkish championships in the elite class (adults) and defeated on the way to the title Murat Korkmaz, Deniz Kindan, Hüseyin Güneş, Ridvan Budak and Alkan Ozdemir.

In 2007, he took in the weight class up to 46 kg of the Cadet European Championships in Siófok and the Cadet World Championships in Baku, where he was able to reach the quarter-finals respectively. In 2008 he started in the light flyweight at the Youth World Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico, but was defeated in the first battle against the Uzbeks Jasurbek Latipov. Also in the European Youth Championships 2009 in Stettin, he left in the first battle of the fly weight against the starter from Georgia.

At the 38th European Championships 2010 in Moscow, he retired flyweight only in the quarter- final against the Russians Mikhail Alojan. Something similar happened to him at the 39th European Championships 2011 in Ankara, when he was almost lost in the bantamweight in the second round against the Russians Georgi Balakschin with 13:15.

In September 2011 he took part in the bantamweight title at the 16th World Championships in Baku, but different in the second preliminary round with a close decision against Oteng Oteng of 15:17 from Botswana from. In April 2012, he fought in Trabzon second place in the European Olympic qualification after he had prevailed against Hovhannes Danieljan from Armenia, Rafał Kaczor of Poland and Norbert Kalucza from Hungary and only in the final losing to Nordine Oubaali from France. Thus he started in July of the same year bantamweight at the 30th Summer Olympic Games in London, but down in the first fight a point defeat of 10:24 against Chatchai Butdee from Thailand.

Then, starting at featherweight, he suffered at the 40th European Championships 2013 in Minsk a defeat in the second round against the Irishman John Nevin, silver medalist of the Olympic Summer Games in 2012. In October of the same year he took part in the 17th World Championships in Kazakhstan Almaty and reached the 5th place at featherweight. After victories against the Americans Eduardo Martinez, the Finns Matti Koota and the Brazilian Robenilson de Jesus, he left in the quarter -finals with just 1-2 against the Ukrainian Mykola Butsenko.

Eker also punched in the seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 for the Turkish team, " Ista Bulls " or "Istanbul Bosphorus " in the World Series of Boxing (WSB). He denied doing six fights, of which he won two and lost four.
