The German self-service wholesaler FEGRO / SELGROS ( complete: OHG FEGRO / SELGROS Cash & Carry GmbH & Co.) has its headquarters in Neu-Isenburg. Fegro / Selgros operates 84 Cash & Carry stores in Germany, Poland, Romania and Russia. There commercial customers are offered a food and non-food assortment with about 53,000 items. Fegro / Selgros is after Metro Cash & Carry is the second largest cash & carry market operator.

Since January 10, 2011 Fegro / Selgros belongs to transGourmet Switzerland AG.

History

The history of the OHG Fegro / Selgros Society for wholesale mbH & Co. begins 1948 with the opening of the first wholesale Agros.

The first Selgros market was founded in Offenbach am Main in 1959. The opening of the first FEGRO market in 1966 in Eschborn, Taunus instead.

In 1979 the Otto GmbH & Co KG shares in FEGRO with operations in Eschborn and Rodgau, and Mannheim. 1986 AGROS markets in Hamburg, Metjendorf near Oldenburg, Bochum, Duisburg, Cologne and Hilden - Pesch were then taken, which were then renamed FEGRO.

In 1989, a merger of the administrations of FEGRO and SELGROS in a joint venture under the oHG FEGRO / SELGROS Society for wholesale mbH & Co. instead. The names of the markets retaining most, it only came to a rebranding of the company. The shareholders of the joint venture were 50 per cent, the Otto Group of Hamburg and REWE Group in Cologne. On 13 March 2008 took over the Cologne-based REWE Group retroactive to February 29, 2008 the 50 percent share of the joint venture partners Otto Group.

On 27 October 2008, the trading groups REWE Group and Coop ( Switzerland ), the establishment of a joint new joint venture under the name transGourmet Holding SE agreed. Under the umbrella of transGourmet Holding the international business efforts of the two companies are bundled henceforth. Specifically, the holding company manages the activities of the Fegro / Selgros group REWE large consumers Services GmbH and transGourmet Switzerland AG. On 10 January 2011, the Coop has taken transGourmet group to 100 %.

International expansion

The focus of the expansion plans of Fegro / Selgros on the markets of Eastern Europe. Under the brand Selgros Cash & Carry, the company is also in the foreign partner for commercial customers.

The international expansion of Fegro / Selgros began on 1 July 1997 with the opening of the first Selgros Cash & Carry market in Poznan ( Poland) set. Meanwhile operates Fegro / Selgros 15 stores in Poland. The administrative headquarters of SELGROS CASH & CARRY Sp z oo is located in Poznan.

In 2001 Fegro / Selgros began entering the Romanian market. On 29 May, the first Selgros Cash & Carry wholesale market was in Braşov opened what today another 20 markets followed. The administrative headquarters of SELGROS CASH & CARRY SRL is located in Braşov.

On 18 December 2008 the first Russian Fegro / Selgros market was opened in Kotelniki. At over 10,000 square meters of retail space Selgros Cash & Carry offers an extensive range. The second store was opened in Ryazan in March 2009 and is the third store in March 2010 in Vnukovo. To date, Fegro / Selgros opened a total of six Cash & Carry stores in Moscow and the regions of the Russian Federation.
