Blindia magellanica
The Seligeriaceae are a family of mosses ( Bryophyta ).
Features
The plants are very small, with the exception of the genus Blindia. You are one to eight millimeters high, Blindia to eight inches. The stems are simple or divided. They do not form a Rhizoidenfilz. The leaves have a hollow base, a rib and end subulate. The Gametangienstände are constantly summit. The capsule is upright and regularly, the peristome consists of 16 teeth, which are undivided, but they can also missing. The calyptra is small and hats or hat -shaped.
Distribution and systematics
The representatives occupy exclusively rocks. The family belongs to the order Grimmiales and includes five genera:
- Blindia, 23 species worldwide
- Brachydontium, 2 kinds, Europe, America, Asia, Australia Brachydontium trichodes, only European species of the genus
- Hymenolomopsis tolucensis
- Valdonia microcarpa
