Selvarasa Pathmanathan

Selvarasa Pathmanathan ( born April 6, 1955 in Kankesanthurai, Ceylon; actually Shanmugam Kumaran Tharmalingam ) is the current leader of the Sri Lankan separatist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ( LTTE). His predecessor was killed in May 2009 during the Civil War Velupillai Prabhakaran. Pathmanathan had left the country in the early 1980s and served in exile as chief financial officer and arms dealer in the LTTE. On 5 August 2009, he was arrested under unclear circumstances in a South Asian country and brought to Sri Lanka, where he is being held ever since.
