Semih Özmert

Hasan Semih Özmert ( born July 27, 1921 in Üsküdar, İstanbul ) is a Turkish lawyer and was 1985-1986 President of the Turkish Constitutional Court.

Career

Özmert completed his studies at the Law Faculty of Istanbul University, and was sent by the Turkish Ministry of Justice to France, where he received his doctorate in 1952. In 1953 he returned to Turkey, where he was appointed by the President Kenan Evren as a full member of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey in 1981. On April 9, 1985, he was elected President of the Constitutional Court and held this office until 27 July 1986.
