Semnan, Iran

Semnan (Persian سمنان ) is the provincial capital of the Iranian province of Semnan. It lies on the northern edge of the province, about 220 kilometers east of the provincial capital of Tehran and 120 km south of the Caspian Sea. The city has 144 691 inhabitants.

Semnan is located 1138 meters above sea level on the southern edge of the Alborz Mountains and is a regional trade center for grain and cotton.
