Senargent - Mignafans is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Senargent - Mignafans situated at an altitude of 295 m above sea level, 7 km east of Villers Exel and about 28 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The scattered village extends on the valley floor of the River Scey, southwest of the hilly landscape of the Bois de Granges.

The area of ​​10.77 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the catchment area of ​​the Ognon. The central part of the area is traversed in an east-west direction from the valley of Scey, which is on average 280 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. In the north the municipality area is sufficient in the vast forest of the Bois Noyes and up to the winding course of the Rognon, a side stream of Scey. To the southeast leads a 50 m high terrain level to Bois Dessus ( at 372 meters the highest point of Senargent - Mignafans ) above and to the plateau of Mignafans. This plateau is mainly composed of red sandstone and is located at about 360 m. It shows a loose structure of arable, meadow and woodland.

The double municipality consists of the two districts Senargent (295 m) in the valley of Scey and Mignafans (360 m) on the south adjacent plateau. Neighboring communities of Senargent - Mignafans are Athesans - ETROITEFONTAINE and Mignavillers in the north, Granges- la -Ville and Secenans in the east, Vellechevreux -et- Saint- Courbenans and Ferjeux in the south and Beveuge and Villa fans in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Senargent in 1140, as Renaud de Traves gave the place the monastery Lieu- croissant. Since the 12th century, the church is occupied. In the Middle Ages the rule over Senargent long time between the Counts of Montbéliard and the Lords of Neuchâtel was controversial. Mignafans always belonged, however, to the influence of the Counts of Montbéliard. Together with the Franche -Comté reached both villages with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

In 1807 merged Mignafans along with various other places the greater community Granges- le -Bourg. In the cleavage of this large village came Mignafans 1824 Granges- la -Ville and 1832 it regained its independence. 1972 Senargent and Mignafans grouped together for today's double municipality. Attractions

The village church of Senargent was rebuilt in 1852. It has a remarkable interior, including the richly carved wooden pulpit and two altars from the 18th century. The village is characterized by different houses of red sandstone in the 17th and 18th century in the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône. In Mignafans are a chapel and two Fontaine- Lavoirs from the 19th century, which once served as well, wash and livestock watering.

With 279 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Senargent - Mignafans to the small towns in the Haute- Saône.
