Senegalese wrestling

The Gambian Wrestling ( wolof Borey, boreh or Borreh (correct spelling: Bere or Bere ) and Laamb (correct spelling: Lamb), mandinka Nyoboringo or Nyoboro ), lutte under the French name africaine or lutte sénégalaise known, is a national sport with great tradition in the West African region Senegambia (Gambia and Senegal). But in Niger and Nigeria are known forms of this African wrestling.

Among the members of the West African ruling families in the 11th century there were already Ringer competitions, as they were considered to be a royal, highly respected sport. Today, the competition will be run in every village, especially on the southern border and in the Senegalese region of Casamance.
