The confederation of Senegambia was a confederation of West African States Senegal and Gambia, which consisted of 1 February 1982 to 30 September 1989. Signed on December 12, 1981 Konföderationsvertrag envisaged the unification of the armed forces, the currency and the economic area. This confederation was terminated from Gambia, Senegal because urged a union of the two countries. The parliamentary language was Wolof.
