Sengai Aaliyan

Sengai Aaliyan ( Dr. Kanthaia Kunarasa; * 1941 in Jaffna ) is a Tamil writer from Sri Lanka. He also served as a notary public of Jaffna.

Life

Kunarasa was born in 1941 in Jaffna. He studied at the University of Peradeniya and later received his Ph.D. in geography (land use and settlements ) of the University of Jaffna. He is not only a prolific author, but also a well-known critic in the literary world. He has written more than 30 novels and three works in the fictional story. Kunarasa received more than six times of the Sahithiya Mandala awards for his novels and short stories. Some of his stories have been translated and published in the Sinhala weekly newspapers such as Silumina, Vivarana, Ravaya, etc.. One of his novels, " Yanai ," was translated under the title "The Beast" into English.
