The Senshu University (Japanese専 修 大学, Senshu daigaku in short, Sendai (専 大) ) is a private university in Japan. The main campus is located in Kanda Jimbo -chō, Chiyoda- ku, Tokyo.

History

The University was established in September 1880 under the name Senshu - school (専 修 学校, Senshu Gakko, the name Senshu means " specialization [ in a discipline ] " ) was founded. The founders were four young men named Nagatane Sōma (相 马 永 胤, 1850-1924 ), Inajirō Tajiri (田 尻 稲 次郎, 1850-1923 ), Tanetarō Megata (目 贺 田 种 太郎, 1853-1926 ) and Shigetada Komai (驹 井 重 格, 1853 -1901 ), who studied in the United States. The school was the first Japanese private business and legal management school that taught in Japanese. At that time, taught the professors (O- yatoi gaikokujin ) at the University of Tokyo on European languages.

1885, the present-day Kanda Campus was opened, and the school moved from Ginza to enable Kanda. 1893, the Department of Law has been closed. The school named in 1913 in Shiritsu Daigaku Senshu (私立 専 修 大学, dt "Private Senshu College " ), then in 1919 Senshu Daigaku order. In 1922 she was awarded university status.

The university had initially only one faculty ( Economics ). She added faculties: Law (1927 ), Business Administration ( 1962), Trade Science (1965 ), Humanities (1966 ), Network and Information Science (2001), and Human Sciences (2010). 1949, the larger - Ikuta Campus was opened, and today are all faculties except the Faculty of Law and evening courses in Ikuta Campus. In 1989, the body of the University, a sister university in Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture - the Senshu University, Ishinomaki (石 巻 専 修 大学, Ishinomaki Senshu daigaku ).
