Sepp Heckelmiller

Josef " Sepp " Heckelmiller ( born November 5, 1943 in Hindelang ) is a former German ski racer.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Grenoble, France, he reached the 24th place in the giant slalom. Shortly afterwards, on 10 March 1968 he won the Alpine Skiing World Cup his first points when he finished fifth in the giant slalom in Méribel. At the end of the 1968 season he finished in 35th place in the overall World Cup and the 18th in the giant slalom standings. On January 5, 1970 Heckelmiller drove in Adelboden with second place for the first time to the winners' podium at a World Cup race. In the Alpine World Skiing Championships 1970 in Val Gardena he reached the 11th place in the giant slalom. In the following 1970/71 season he was able to increase its performance and reached at the end of the 16th place in the overall World Cup and the 6th place in the giant slalom standings. At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 he started again, but different in the first run out. In 1974 he became German champion in giant slalom. In the Alpine World Skiing Championships in the same year in St. Moritz, he drove like in 1970 again on the 11th Place. He had won in March 1973 His last World Cup points.

After the end of his active career, he worked as director of a ski school in upper yoke as well as a hotelier.
