Șerbănești

Serbanesti is a Romanian municipality with 3212 inhabitants ( 2002) in the east of the circle Olt. It lies at an altitude of about 135 meters above sea level and covers about 41 km ². Nationals villages Serbanesti de Jos, Serbanesti de Sus and Strugurelu are (formerly Jarcaleti ). The nearest train station is located about twenty kilometers north in Potcoava and offers the villages following the route Timisoara - Slatina - Pitesti -Bucharest.

History

For the first time the city was mentioned on July 23, 1513 as Serbanesti. Other mentions are held in the years 1539 and 1717. 1780 were mapped two places (top and Unterşerbăneşti ), so that the place consists of two districts since the latest.
