Serer (also Serer - Sine ) is an Atlantic language that is spoken by the Serer ethnic group in Senegal and Gambia.

The language is widespread in the West Senegal and in the valleys of the rivers Sine Saloum and Gambia and in the northwest. It is spoken by about 1.2 million people, of which about 30,000 live in the Gambia.

Serer is next Diola, Wolof, Mandinka, Soninke and Fulfulde one of the six national languages ​​of Senegal.

Other languages ​​which are also referred to as Serer (eg Serer - Noon, Serer Untersafen ) are not dialects, but belong to the Cangin languages.
