Sergei Nikolaev

Sergei Nikolayev Gennadjewitsch (Russian: Сергей Геннадьевич Николаев; born June 8, 1972 in Saratov, Russian SFSR ) is a retired Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in his playing days from 1992 to 2011 among others for Ak Bars Kazan in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Career

Sergei Nikolayev began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior level of crystal Saratov, for the first team, he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1992/93 season. Subsequently, the goalkeeper for one year each joined to its domestic rivals Torpedo Yaroslavl and Chimik Woskressensk. Then he paused a long season with ice hockey before he stood from 1996 to 1999 when HK Lada Togliatti under contract. With Togliatti, the Russian won in the 1996/97 season first European Cup, before he failed with his team in the playoff final of the Russian Cup to his former club Torpedo Yaroslavl.

After he finished the 1999/2000 season at Severstal Cherepovets, Nikolayev moved for two years to SKA Saint Petersburg. He then spent four seasons with Salavat Yulaev Ufa from 2006 to 2008 was HK Sibir Novosibirsk at the Russian between the posts, where he played in the 2007/ 08 season in parallel five games for the league rivals Metallurg Novokuznetsk. In summer 2008, Nikolayev was obliged by Ak Bars Kazan of the newly formed Continental Hockey League, in which, from 2008, he stood by as the third goalkeeper to 2011 for the injury- induced failure of the two Stammtorwärte, but did not deny a single KHL game. He then ended his career.
