Sergei Saltykov

Sergei Vasilievich Saltykov (Russian: Сергей Васильевич Салтыков, scientific transliteration Sergei Saltykov Vasil'evič; * 1726, † 1765 ) was one of the lovers of the later Empress Catherine II of Russia and probably the father of Tsar Paul I

The Grand Duchess Catherine, married to the heir to the throne Peter Fedorovich, got involved in an affair with the handsome Count Sergei Saltykov chamberlain.

On October 1, 1754 Catherine gave birth to her son Paul was born. The Tsarina recognized the child as legitimate, but they could be removed from the court Saltykov.
