Sergey Pogorelov

Sergei Valentinovich Pogorelov (Russian: Сергей Валентинович Погорелов; born June 2, 1974 in Volgograd) is a Russian former handball player.

Club career

Pogorelov 1999 moved from the Russian club caustic Volgograd in the German handball league, where he first played for TBV Lemgo and then when ThSV Eisenach. From there he went in 2001 in the Spanish league ASOBAL for BM Ciudad Real, with whom he won the 2002 European Cup Winners' Cup. During the 2002/ 03 season, the 1.97 meter tall back player was loaned to French club Villeurbanne, for which he threw 40 goals in 12 games. In the following season he was loaned to Paris HB. After Pogorelov again returned to Ciudad Real and there was no season, he was loaned in October 2004 in the Spanish first division BM Altea. In summer 2005, he joined Algeciras BM. For the season 2008/ 09 changed Pogorelov the Macedonian club RK Metalurg Skopje, however, he left after only a week after he failed the health check.

National

Sergei Pogorelov played 194 international matches for the Russian national team. With Russia In 1996 he was European champion, 1997 World champion and won at the 2000 Olympic Games gold medal in 2004 and bronze.

At the European Championships in 1998 Pogorelov was elected to the All-Star Team.
