Sérgio Godinho

Sérgio Godinho ( born August 31, 1945 in Porto ) is a Portuguese poet, musician, composer and singer. He also appeared in television series and stage plays and made himself a name as a theater director.

History

At the age of 20 years Sérgio Godinho left Portugal and returned only after the end of colonial wars after nine years in exile to the Carnation Revolution in 1974 in his country back. Most of the time he spent in Paris, where he in the musical " Hair" was involved for two years and contact with other musicians in exile José Mário Branco used as, Zeca Afonso Luís Cilia. In addition, he also lived in Amsterdam, Brazil and Vancouver. Even in exile in Paris, he took in 1971, together with José Mário Branco, the LP - se os tempos Mudam mudam - se as vontades and 1972 solo albums Os sobreviventes and Pré- Histórias on. Despite the existing censorship in Portugal won this albums in Portugal in popularity and the album Os sobreviventes ( the survivors ) was voted for Record of the Year.

Since his return from exile in 1974 his career has been continuously successful. His songs have grown most fond of Portuguese.
