Sergio Rodríguez

Sergio Rodríguez Gómez ( born June 12, 1986 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is a Spanish professional basketball player. He plays the position of point guards.

Career

The 1.91 meter tall Sergio Rodríguez began his career in the team of his school Colegio La Salle San Ildefonso in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. From there he moved to the clubs Tenerife CB and from 2000 to Siglo XXI, a basketball academy in Getxo. In 2003, CB Estudiantes undertook the talented point guard and put him in the B- team of the club. His debut in the A-team, he celebrated on 13 June 2004 in a playoff game for the Spanish Cup against Barcelona. Sergio Rodríguez was already celebrating his first success in the junior for the Spanish national team. In 2004, he won by a 89:71 in the final against Turkey's Under-18 European Championship. In the tournament he averaged scored 19 points and distributed 8.5 assists per game and was named MVP for his achievements.

On 28 August 2005, the then almost 19 -year-old made ​​his debut against France in the senior team. Shortly thereafter, he was part of the banns at the European Championships, but failed here in the match for third place in France. His greatest success with the selection of Spain succeeded in the Basketball World Championship 2006 in Japan, where he won the gold medal.
