Serra de na Burguesa

Serra de na Burguesa (now known as Na Burguesa ) is a mountain range on the Balearic island of Mallorca. The confining themselves with sharp outlines of mountains, the foothills of which run up to the coast, lies in the southernmost part of the Serra de Tramuntana between Son Vida (Palma ) and Son Falconer (Calvià ). The average altitude is about 400 msnm. The highest elevations are the Coll dels pastor with 443 m, the Puig Gros de Bendinat with 486 m and the Puig den Bou with 503 m.

History

The mountain range is characterized by extensive pine forests and the typical Mediterranean scrub formation of scrubland. In addition, located on this mountain chain, a natural terrace of the Mirador de n'Alzamora, who played an important role in the deeds of King James I of Aragon. This is a protected site from which a view of the coast of Calvia, the mountains in the north and in the east of the plain and the port facility of Palma is given. The whole valley once stood scattered Arab farmhouses, from which later developed massive houses and agricultural goods.

In the 17th century on the orders of the Marqués de la Romana ( Pedro Caro i Sureda ( 1761-1811 ) from Palma) was built at this point the Castell de Bendinat. Tourism

The plateau is today a lively tourist area, both hikers and hunters from the nearby capital, Palma. There is an access road on the outskirts of Palma. From Gènova a narrow winding road leads directly to the Coll de Sa Creu. A small number of parking spaces are at the same panoramic restaurant (Na Burgesa ) available.
