Sesbania grandiflora

Sesbania is the only plant genus of the tribe Sesbanieae in the subfamily Fabaceae ( Faboideae ) within the legume family ( Fabaceae ). It is native to the tropics.

Description

Vegetative characteristics

The Sesbania species grow as herbaceous plants, deciduous shrubs or rarely as trees. The change-constant leaves are stalked and pinnate. The stipules are small or absent. The petiole and rachis which are often grooved. There may be "In addition to leaflets ". The many -stalked leaflets have a smooth edge. The spines fall off early.

Generative features

At the upper end of the branches are located on an inflorescence stem axillary, racemose inflorescences. Bracts and pfriemförmige bracts are obsolete. The flower stems are thin.

The hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, five petals have a double perianth. The five sepals are bell-shaped fused with five nearly equal teeth or rare they are almost bilobed and shorter than the calyx tube. The genus Sesbania is widespread in the tropics and subtropics worldwide. Some species are used as crop use.
