Seskar

Seskar (Russian Сескар, Finnish Seiskari, Swedish Seitskär ) is an island in the eastern Gulf of Finland. It belongs to Rajon Kingisepp in the Leningrad Oblast in Russia and is located 80 km west of Saint Petersburg.

History

1903 was spun off from the community of the church Koivisto Seiskari. She belonged to the Finnish province of Viipuri and lay in the region of South Karelia. 1939, the island had 688 inhabitants.

The Peace of Moscow, the island came in 1940 with the Soviet Union. This area change was ratified only after the Second World War.
