Seth Gordon

Seth Gordon ( born July 15, 1974 in Evanston, Illinois ) is an American film director, screenwriter and film producer.

Life and career

Seth Gordon was born in July 1974 in Evanston, Illinois. He received his high school diploma at the prestigious Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington State, whose alumni also include Bill Gates and Paul Allen.

He studied architecture at Yale University while studying and spent six months in a development project in Kenya. There he helped in planning the infrastructure of a small village and stopped the process with his video camera fixed. After his return to the U.S. he acquired the basic knowledge to filmmaking itself, and placed his shot in Africa documentation ready. Because this work caused him more pleasure than his studies, he eventually returned the architecture back in the film business, trying to get a foothold.

Early in his career, he has directed several short films and worked as a producer. He attracted attention for the first time with his documentary The King of Kong (2007), which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival. The actor Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon, which showed just with the preparations for the film My treasure, our family and I went (2008 ) deals so impressed with Gordon's work that they proposed it to the production company New Line Cinema as a director and this he was engaged shortly after. The film was a huge success at the box office, where it grossed a total of 120.1 million U.S. dollars, especially in the United States.

After his first feature film, he devoted himself initially directed single episodes of television series such as The Office and Modern Family, and wrote in at several screenplays. Another career highlight he reached with the star-studded comedy Horrible Bosses, the 2011 world premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles celebrated on June 30. The movie was released on July 8, 2011, in the American cinema, and played on the opening weekend 28.3 million U.S. dollars, with which he was number two in the U.S. box office. After five rounds, the film had recorded his production costs. The European premiere was held in London on 20 July 2011. In Germany the film will start on 1 September 2011.
