Seto or Setu ( Seto kiil ') is a Baltic Finnish language variety spoken in the southern Estonian- Russian border and is often considered a dialect of Estonian. It is spoken by about 5,000 people, mostly in Southeast Estonia, on the so-called land of Seto ( setu Setomaa, Estonian Setumaa ).

The Seto language is counted for South-Estonian language and is Võro very similar, but only the Setukesen ( Seto ) have very primitive, ancient traditions and strong identity, so you should consider Võro and Seto culturally rather separately.

According to another view, the language of the Seto is an Estonian and South Estonian dialect or another variant of Võro.

Related dialects are also Tartu and Mulgi.
