Seurbi

The Seurbi were a tribe in Iberia, which is counted among the tribes of the Gallaeker ( Callaici ). They settled according to Pliny, at the mouth of Miño mainly in the field of Portuguese districts of Viana do Castelo and Braga.

Also, according to Pliny are their neighbors of the tribe of Leuni and Country Town Asturica Augusta, who was one of the Bracari. They are also added to the tribal confederation of the Lusitanians ( Lusitani ). The culture is Celtic influences, but in origin not Celtic. The Seurbi likely migrated from the north and from the south in the late Hallstatt period, or La Tène period, but no later than the end of the second Punic war.

Some researchers saw or see the Seurbi of Pliny ( 24-79 AD) in the Seurri ( Σεουροι ) in the Geography of Ptolemy (~ 100-175 AD) in the Seurbi no longer, at least under this names appear. Thus, the cities Talamina and Aqua Quintinae the Seurbi be attributed.
