Seve Trophy

The Seve Trophy is a team competition for golf professionals, the every 2 years between golfers from the UK & Ireland and those from continental Europe will be held after the model of the Ryder Cup. The initiative for this meeting came from the five-time major winner Seve Ballesteros.

Only since 2000, this trophy will be played and you must, therefore, quite in contrast to the Ryder Cup, lure participants with prizes.

Due to a sponsorship contract with the French media group Vivendi competition took place in the years 2009 and 2011 under the name The Vivendi Trophy with Severiano Ballesteros bezw. Vivendi Seve Trophy.

The comparison battle takes place in September each year. Initially, the Seve Trophy was held in even years, after the change of the calendar for the Ryder Cup, they will now be held in odd-numbered years.

While the event is a recognized special event on the European Tour series, but the price obtained money does not count for the money list European Tour Order of Merit.
