Seven Heavens
The phrases " on cloud nine to be " and " be in seventh heaven " represent an extraordinary elation, for example, the feeling of pure joy or love.
In English there is in religious studies area the expression Seven Heavens. The extraordinary elation however, is named with cloud nine, that "cloud nine ".
Background
The term seventh heaven is probably derived from the theory of the Greek philosopher Aristotle. This divided the sky as a plural in seven transparent vault ( shells), in which the heavenly bodies are embedded. In each of the seven heavens or spheres depending moved one of the seven known planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. The seventh vault, so the seventh heaven, is the area that, with all its planets, stars, moons and suns concluding the world against nothingness. Sometimes it is also narrated as: Antiquity knew seven heavenly spheres - also known as seven heavens. Behind the last visible planet Saturn, the Guardian of the Threshold, ended in the physical world, and it only came the invisible spiritual world, the world of fantasy, wishes and dreams.
In the Apocryphal Testament of the 12 Patriarchs, which was 70-135 AD, according to Levi, Chapter 3: Hear now of the seven heavens. The doctrine of the seven heavens corresponds rabbinic view and is described in the Talmud. According to the Talmud the seventh heaven is the highest heaven. His name is Araboth ( clouds ).
In the Talmud ( Hagiga II, 1; 12b) it says:
" There are seven heavens and indeed curtain, Veste, vapor cloud, house, castle, place and clouds. In the clouds ... ( the seventh ) are justice, wealth and salvation, and the treasures of life, the treasures of peace, and the treasures of blessing, the souls of the righteous, the spirits, the souls of those who are born once, and the dew will one day revive the dead, justice and law. Found are henceforth: the Ophanim, the Seraphim, the sacred animals of the ministering angels and the throne of glory. "
Just as in the Talmud, the idea of the seven heavens is also contained in the Koran and found by him further spread.
