Seyval Blanc

Seyval Blanc is a white grape variety from 1919, which is very well suited for cool climate. The early maturing, high yielding and fungus-resistant variety is therefore in northern France, England (since 2002 most common variety in front of Müller -Thurgau ) and Switzerland (7.2 acres, as of 2007, source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG ) cultivated. Because of their hardiness, the grape is grown particularly in Canada and the eastern United States. Seyval Blanc produces a clean, dry, somewhat neutral wine with fruity notes and is next to Villard Blanc to the successful breeding of Rebzucht - operation Seyve Villard in Saint- Vallier in the Drôme in the Rhône valley. Companies was the breeding of Bertille Seyve (1864-1939) and his father-in and partner Victor Villard.

It is a cross between the two Seibel vines S × S 5656 4986th Since it thus is a hybrid vine, it is not approved for quality wines according to EU regulations. According to a decree of 18 April 2008, the grape variety but again one of the officially authorized varieties for commercial cultivation, as shares of the noble vine Vitis vinifera contained in the genome of the plant Valentin Blattner took advantage of the variety as crossing partners of the variety Birstaler nutmeg. Input found in the new varieties Merzling, Cayuga White, Chardonel, Melody, La Crosse, St. Croix and St. Pepin.

The vine is often found as a table grape in private gardens, as can easily go as espalier fruit.
