Shabbir Banoobhai

Shabbir aims' (born 23 October 1949 in Durban ) is a South African poet.

Life

After completing his school education aims' began first at Springfield College to study to become a teacher later. In 1970 he was elected president of the student representation, and was editor of the college newspaper Aspect, which was banned several times because of sharp criticism of the apartheid regime.

At college he met Fatima Meer. When she realized Banoobhais poetic talent, she introduced him to the poet Douglas Livingstone.

Aims' finished college with a bachelor's degree as a merchant. Finally, after a short period as a teacher he began to work as an accountant.

With its dense work aims tried in his own words, to propagate ideas of a more humane society, a society that respects all its members not only as human beings but they understand as a spiritual and divine beings in the core.
