Shagarakti-Shuriash

Šagarakti - Šuriāš ( Ša -ga- rak -ti -ia sur - aš, Šagarakti - Šurijāš, Schagarakti - Schuriasch ) was the son of Kudur - Enlil I 1245-1233 BC a king of Babylonia from the Kassite dynasty.

From Ashur copy of a lapis lazuli seal of Šagarakti - Šurijāš is handed down. It bore the inscription " Seal of Šagarakti - Šurijāš, King of the whole ." After it had Tukulti - Ninurta I captured, he left it with the appropriate inscription provided " Tukulti -Ninurta, king of the whole, son of Šulmānu - ašarēd, the king of Assyria piece of loot from Babylon. ". The seal came in the episode as a gift back to Babylonia and was eventually captured by Sennacherib in newly - Assyrian times again. Cassite lapis lazuli seal were also discovered in Thebes in Greece

Rule

Šagarakti - Šurijāš was probably still a minor when he came to the throne. From his reign, few reports have survived. After economic texts from Nippur, Babylonia, however, seems to have been in economic difficulties, many citizens went into debt bondage. At his death, after twelve years of his reign he left a minor son Kaštiliaš IV, who was an easy prey to the Assyrian aggression.

Buildings

Šagarakti - Šurijāš built numerous temples, including major Kurigalzu, Nippur, and, according to an inscription of Nabonidus, the Ebabbar and Eulmaš temple in Sippar. The gods Nusku and Enlil, the kingdom of God in the late Kassites seem to have particularly located close to his heart.

Name

After the Babylonian Kassite - Šagarakti dictionary to translate with napšaru, Šurijāš probably corresponds to the sun god Šamaš. Jaritz will therefore equate an occupied from major Kurigalzu King Ātanaḫ - Šamaš with Šagarakti - Šuriaš. From this, however, at least 15 years of reign are occupied.
