Shagya Arabian

Shagya Arabian is a breed of horse. The Shagya Arabian is a largely Arabians built, a separate breed, the more size, substance and riding horse points than its smaller brother and zierlicherer, the Arabians. This breed was developed since the late 18th century in the countries of the Kuk - monarchy, especially in today's Hungary, Romania and Czechoslovakia. In this case, when using only purebred Arabian stallions to increase the size and caliber occasionally and selectively asil mares were used, which was recorded in the stud books accurately.

Exterior

The head is small, distinctive and dry with straight to concave brow line and widely spaced, dark eyes. The jowls are wide and far apart, the nostrils large, flexible and expandable. The neck is classy, long and curved upwards, has a slight throat and turns into a sloping shoulder. The withers are pronounced and offers a good saddle position, the back is of medium length with sufficient depth of chest. The body is well muscled, croup long and slightly inclined. The tail is set high and is carried sublime. Fur and guard hairs are fine and silky and emphasize the nobility of the race. The foundation is dry, suitable for the physique and has correct, large joints of medium length shackles and well-shaped hooves. As fur color dominates the mold, followed by brown, rarely are centimes. Foxes are found almost exclusively in the South Eastern European bloodlines, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Bulgaria.

Interior

For its intended use as a performance- ready riding and driving horse for sports of all kinds, the Shagya -Arabian to a sociable and easy, but it more fervent, powerful and nerveless character. It shows a balanced and serene temperament and makes an intelligent and alert appearance. Due to its Arab roots of the Shagya Arabian is very people friendly, if it is treated accordingly.

Use

Previously served Shagya Arabian horses in the army as an officer, pulled carriages and were sold for breeding as refiners in the world. Today they are used in many ways in equestrian sport. They are great as a walking and distance riding horses. Their versatility makes them ideal investment for eventing, where they can play to their hardness, her canter and endurance, particularly in the cross-country competition. But even in dressage, show jumping and as driving forces against light vehicles, for hunting with hounds and as pleasure horses, they are well suited.

Breeding history

The breed of horse was called until 1978 simply " Arab race" and then received, mainly in order to avoid misunderstandings in the English translation, its current name. It was named after the original Arabian Shagya, a geapfelten honey mold, but this is not the founder of the breed. Its creation goes hand in hand with the establishment of the stud Bábolna end of the 18th century.

Born in 1830 Shagya stallion was acquired in 1836 by Baron von Herbert for 1,800 guilders from the Bedouin tribe of Bani Saher in Syria. He was brought to Hungary in 1837, the National Bábolna and there used for breeding until he died there in 1842. The stallion had a shoulder height of nearly 160 cm. Prince Hermann von Pueckler described him in 1839 during a visit to the stud as a " powerful, well muscled, besides, a noble stallion".

As a result Shagya Arabian were grown from the root Shagyas in the state studs Mezőhegyes, Radautz, Piber and Topoľčiany. In addition to the Shagya strain, there are other tribes like Gazal, O'Bajan, Kemir, Siglavy Bagdady, Siglavy and Others
