Shaheed is a Hindi film directed by Ramesh Saigal from the year 1948. It is in the context of the Quit India movement and a wave of terrorist activity in the 1940s in India.

Action

Ram is the son of the colonial police chiefs Raibahadur Dwarkadas. Against the will of his father, he joined a group of freedom fighters. His childhood friend Sheela saves him several times before imprisonments. However, it is forced to marry the evil policeman Vinod who her brother Gopal leaves free in return and promises to rescue Ram.

At the end of Ram stands for terrorist activities in court and is defended by his repentant father. But all this does not help, because it turns out that Ram is guilty. Consequently Ram is hanged. Also Sheela dies and is now united in death with Ram.

The lyrics to the music of Ghulam Haider wrote Jalalabadi Qamar and Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.
