Shahr - e Kord (Persian شهرکرد ) is a city in the west of Iran and the capital of the province of Chahar Mahal and Bachtiyārī. The city is located 107 km south-west of Isfahan and 521 kms south of the capital Tehran. The city has a population of 142,585 (calculated as of 2012), most of which are sedentary Bachtiyārī.

Until 1935 the city was still called Deh Kord, which means village of the Kurds. After 1935 the name in Shahr - e Kord, was the city's Kurds amended to clarify the growth and urbanization. Whether the name Kord really means Kurd, is controversial among residents of Shahr - e Kord.

The city is home to several universities. It also has a thermal power station and a telegraph station.
