Shane Embury

Shane Embury ( born November 27, 1967 in Broseley, Shropshire ) is an English musician. He is best known as a longtime bassist for the grindcore band Napalm Death.

Life

Embury grew up in Broseley, a small village in the county of Shropshire, on. At 16 he left school and worked as a shift worker in a factory. Around this time, he taught himself the drums games, later joined as another instrument of the electric bass. Beginning of 1984 he founded with some friends from his place the thrash metal band Warhammer who brought it only two demos. In early 1986, belonged to the unemployed at the time of the most active Embury tape traders in England and sent 30 to 40 cassette tapes per week. In the same year he founded with the likewise derived from Broseley Mitch Dickinson, the band Unseen Terror. An initial offer of Mick Harris to become a member of Napalm Death, hit Embury early 1987 initially and was the drummer for Azagthoth with whom he recorded a demo. He left Warhammer again, in order to concentrate entirely on Unseen Terror. In the fall of 1987 he went as a bassist with Napalm Death and is uninterrupted until today.

Besides his work with Napalm Death Embury was involved in a variety of projects. Since 1989 he has been under the pseudonym Hongo bassist of Brujeria and played bass on the two albums by Meathook Seed, the project of Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris. Along with Jesse Pintado, Nick Barker and Peter Tägtgren 1998 he founded the band Lock Up, with whom he released three studio albums. Since 2004 he plays in the Black Metal project Insidious Disease and in the hardcore punk band Venomous Concept.

Shane Embury has lived in Birmingham since 1989.
