Shanghai International Studies University

The Shanghai Foreign Studies University (Chinese上海 外国语 大学, Pinyin Shànghǎi wàiguóyŭ Daxue, English Shanghai International Studies University, abbreviation SISU ) is a focus school in the People's Republic of China. With regard to foreign languages ​​it is considered together with the University of Language and Culture Beijing as the most prestigious university in the country.

The campus of the university is divided into two parts. Most bachelor's degree programs are taught in the newer campus in Songjiang. Foreign students and students who seek a master, located mainly on the older campus near the center of Shanghai. Between the two complexes operate continuously shuttle buses.

History

The Shanghai Foreign Studies University has emerged from the Shanghai Foreign Language Institute, which was founded in December 1949 with a focus on Russian, English, French, German, Spanish and Arabic.

Since 1983, the university maintains active cooperation with the University of Heidelberg. Since 2002 there has been a course of study German / economy, which was designed in collaboration with the University of Bayreuth.
