Shangri-La (Toronto)

Shangri -La Toronto is a hotel and residential building in Downtown Toronto, Canada. The building has 65 floors and a height of 214 meters. The building was designed by Canadian architect James Cheng of Vancouver and the West Bank Projects Corp.. built. The team also has the 201 meter high building Living Shangri -La in Vancouver built in this compilation. The hotel is managed by Shangri -La Hotels and Resorts and over 220 rooms. The residential part will have 353 units. The building is located on University Avenue and Adelaide Street, near and west of the Financial District of Toronto.

History

The excavation work began in 2008. Work on the foundations of the garage began in the spring of 2009. Prior to the foundation work of archaeological excavations were carried out at the construction site. Besides, many artifacts were found and secured. A total of excavation work was carried out to 31 meters into the ground to get enough space for the parking garage. On the property were located in front of the building several smaller buildings that were demolished. Some historic buildings in the neighborhood were obtained, however, rebuilt, and has retained its historic facades restored and preserved.
