Sharon Small

Sharon Small ( born January 1, 1967 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a British actress.

Biography

Small is the oldest child of five siblings. In 1989 she graduated from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and began working on the stage, including at the National Theatre in London and Sam Mendes ' Donmar Warehouse. Other theater roles were the Elaine from Arsenic and Old Lace, Cinderella and Catherine in Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Fixed engagements have taken her to the Royal Court Theatre and at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre.

Small was her role as Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers known in the BBC adaptations of crime novels by Elizabeth George The Inspector Lynley Mysteries beyond the UK. By 2007, she played the role in 23 episodes and was rewarded with nominations for Best Actress at the Golden Satellite Award and the TV Choice Award.

Even in the movies Small was successful, they won in 1997 for her role in bumping the odds the best actress award at the film festival in Edinburgh. In 2002, she starred in About a Boy on the side of Hugh Grant and 2004 in Dear Frankie, along with Emily Mortimer and Jack McElhone. Small lives with her husband and their two children in North London.
