Shattiwaza

Šattiwazza ( Schattiwazza ) was a king of Mitanni (also Hanigalbat ) (ca. 1350-1320 BC). The reading of his name is disputed, even Mat ( t) iwaza and Kurtiwaza have been proposed. His birth name is Kili Teššup. He was the son of Tushratta.

Šattiwazza had signed a contract with vassals Suppiuliuma I and was married to a Hittite princess. Suppiuliuma had promised to bring him to the throne, " The great king held on to his hand, and took pleasure in me ... The sun, Suppiuliuma, the great king, king of the land of Hatti, beloved of Teššup which the gods know the, the word that comes out of his mouth, will not be reversed. " He ruled a significantly scaled- Mittani, which had increasingly to resist on the eastern frontier of the Assyrian expansion.
