Shawn Antoski

Shawn Antoski ( born March 25, 1970 in Brantford, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played from 1990 to 1997 for the Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the National Hockey League. The left winger was considered Enforcer because of its body-hugging style of play and robustness.

Career

Antoski played during his junior time for the North Bay Centennials in the Ontario Hockey League. Already at the Centennial because he fell on his hard play and sat in 168 OHL games a total of 565 minutes on the penalty bench. He was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 in the first round at 18th overall position of the Vancouver Canucks. From 1990 to 1993, the attackers played almost exclusively at the former farm team the Canucks, the Milwaukee Admirals in the International Hockey League. The 1992/93 season spent the winger at the Hamilton Canucks. In the season 1993/94 to Antoski could recommend for a place in the NHL squad of Canucks and completed 55 games in the NHL, in which he scored three points scorer and received a total of 190 penalty minutes.

He could be in the same season with Vancouver qualify for the playoffs and came up with the team in the finals for the Stanley Cup before. After losing the seventh game of the series against the New York Rangers, the Canucks missed winning the trophy. After Antoski was a weak start to the 1994/95 season and a few games played, the leaders of the club gave him away to the Philadelphia Flyers earned them Josef Beranek as compensation from the Flyers. In Philadelphia, he was able to immediately win a regular place and ran in 89 games of the regular season and 20 playoff games for the Flyers. After his contract was not renewed in the summer of 1996, he signed on 31 July 1996 as a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He fell because of a hernia from almost the entire 1996/ 97 and was made in the spring of 1997 to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

He played eleven NHL games for the Ducks and gave on 24 November 1997 after a car accident, his early career end known.
