Sheila (singer)

Sheila ( Annie Chancel actually; born August 16, 1945 in Créteil ) is a French pop singer. She celebrated as a soloist great success in France in the 1960s, before she could even end up with the international Sheila & B. Devotion Disco project some hits in the late 1970s.

Life

Sheila began her career in 1962 when she Claude Carrère - was discovered - a French producer and songwriter. The connection ended in 1995 after a court process.

Her first single released was called Sheila. In the following years she had in the 1960s and 1970s, several hits, where she played the the sheltered young girl type. Their first hit was 1962 L' école est finie ( The school is over ).

The international breakthrough came in 1977 when they appeared under the new band name Sheila & B. Devotion. She changed her style of music by singing English-language disco funk. Among other well-known American producer Nile Rodgers was hired for the title spacer. Even more titles similar style as Love Me Baby and a cover version of Singin 'in the Rain brought her international recognition. The chorus of spacer was used again in 2001 with a new melody and lyrics as Crying at the Discotheque by the group Alcazar.

After Carrère was no longer working for them from the beginning of the 1980s, Sheila held her musical career upright only with troubles. A 1985 produced show titled Zenith in Paris became a flop.

Nevertheless, it is still in business and had also registered yet successful concerts in 1998 and 2002, larger disk successes you will no longer get though.
